The AM-4 Flare is designed to provide quick and powerful illumination and/or warning signals. The shell type casing allows for farther fligth with the low velocity, chemical only motor, and the flare itself is designed for maximum intensity with minimal fallout. The flare is a magnesium-plasmite mix with coloring agent pellets, seperated from the motor by a delay mix. This does have the field expedient use of a short-range incindiary device.
