The AW-1 is the basic weapon of the Alliance trooper, also being the most destructive when properly unlocked and fully activated past setting 10 by Alliance commanders. Due to the extreme destructiveness of the highest settings, the weapon is usually restricted to protect Alliance personelle from themselves.

The AW-1 is a fully automatic/beam rifle, capible of complete disruption of a target using millisecond bursts of packeted particulate energy. Using quantum folding techniques also demonstrated in reaching Warp Factors 11 and above, which have been illegal in hand weapons since the 2380s, it reaches a destructive level usually only seen in starship-grade weapons. The range of this weapon is one of the most impressive ever, capible of blasting large-scale targets at unprecedented range, and hitting starships at well over 1,000 Km, the standard ground limit. Don't let the specs fool you, this weapon can do more than they will say.
